Frequently Asked Questions

What time should I arrive?

Aim to be at the Museum between 2pm and 2:30pm. The ceremony starts at 3pm sharp, and fair warning, we're super punctual. If you do show up late (hey man, these things happen) please go to the Museum help desk in the Foyer first and ask to be shown where to enter in so you can sneak in like a ninja.

Is there a dress code?

Semi-Formal. Get a bit fancy, you know you want to.

Can I bring a date?

We've worked really hard to create a list people in our lives that we want to share this day with. We would appreciate it if you didn't bring a date unless they're specifically invited.

Are there any colours that guests should avoid wearing?

Probably just white coz, you know. Please note that we can't be held responsible for anyone who turns up in a red shirt...

Are kids welcome?

Although we think kids are awesome and we have numerous children in our lives that we love, we have planned our reception as an adults-only event. It's important to us for all of our guests to feel relaxed and at liberty to party! In addition, the night will include language, music, and humour that may not be deemed kid-friendly. If you have children, please plan ahead to secure a babysitter for the night, and expect for the fun to carry on late into the evening.

Does your wedding have a theme?

Fun is a theme...right?

Will last names be changing after the ceremony?

Yep! Lauren's been looking forward to becoming an alliterated adverb for quite a while.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes, totally.

Where can I sit?

Ceremony: We will have the first couple of rows of seats reserved for family members, other than that, you may sit wherever you like.
Reception: There will be a seating chart to help you find where to park it.

What can I do between the ceremony and the reception?

Until reception opens up at 5.30pm, we highly recommend that you explore the Newcastle Museum - it’s rad. We will also have some tables reserved at Dockyards if you would like to hang there.

Will food be served?

There will be light refreshments available before and after the Ceremony. Canapes will be served soon after Reception opens. A banquet dinner will be served around 6:30 and cake after speeches. All food served will be listed on the menu on the day. Make sure you put in your dietary requests with your RSVP!

What if I have a dietary restriction?

If you have any special dietary needs (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies, etc.) please indicate this in your RSVP so we can organise some food for you.

Will there be dancing?

You bet your sweet bippy there'll be dancing! We have a friggin’ amazing band and EVERYONE is expected to come have a dance with us! And we'll be setting the bar pretty high, just sayin'.

What time will the reception end?

The bar will close at 10.30pm and the reception will end at 11pm sharp.

Can I take pictures?

We will be having an Unplugged Ceremony, which means we will be asking that you turn off all smartphones and cameras. We already have an amazing photographer and his wingman and we want, more than anything, for our guests to be fully present and share this amazing day with us.

So, no photos at all?

Just not during the ceremony please - keep those cameras handy for party pics! We respectfully ask that you do not request Museum staff to take your pictures as they have a busy night ahead of them helping to make our wedding awesome!
